The Intermarium was a military and economic alliance of several Eastern European States. Born out of a desire for regional stability following the collapse of the Mediterranean Union, the Intermarium was formally established under the Second Treaty of Visegrad on 1 November 2102 upon the foundations of the pre-existing Visegrad Group.

The Intermarium traces its origins back to World War I when Polish leader Józef Piłsudski proposed the creation of a federation, under Poland's aegis, uniting Eastern Europe in common defense against Germany and Russia. Since then the union has grown in size through the accession of new countries, and new policy areas have been added to the remit of the Intermarium's institutions.

Politics[]

The Intermarium Council in Visegrad is dominated by the Poles, by far the strongest military and economic power of the bloc.
