Neptune is the eighth planet in the Sol system. It the sixth most populous U.S. planetary commonwealth. 90% of Neptune's population reside on the moon Triton, while the remainder live in mining colonies orbit close to the atmosphere of the planet.

Triton is the largest moon beyond the orbit of Saturn and home to 110 million people, 90,000 of which are descended from Tel-bn brood nannies. Triton was the second moon in the solar system to be tented for paraterraforming after Titan. Paraterraforming is still ongoing and is expected to be completed in the early 23rd century. The import of sunlight from the solar mirror network and locally produced light sources have increased the moon's surface temperature sufficiently to boil off the bulk of all Nitrogen into the growing atmosphere and reduce its ice into a liquid water ocean. Despite these local resources, Triton still imports a sizable amount of raw materials to produce a sustainable atmosphere and ocean.
At 8% Earth's gravity, Triton's population is made predominantly of the Lunarian human subspecies, while also sporting the second largest population of Avians beyond Mars. Triton is a regular dumping site for left-over silicates from asteroid mining operations, made in an effort to increase the mass of the Moon and with it its gravity. 55% of Triton's population are in some way involved in the Mining, processing, and export of Helium-3 harvested from Neptune. The rest of the population work in either the Terra-forming industry (11%) or are artisans (14%) and entrepreneurs (20%).
