Serbia is a country in Europe.
Serbia's roots go back centuries, but modern Serbia re-emerged from the breakup of the former Yugoslavia, a combination of Slavic countries which broke into 6 constituent states during the fall of communism in the 1990's. Serbia finally was completely independent after Montenegro seceded in 2006, and Kosovo in 2008. However, Serbia later annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina before 2035, with Kosovo being annexed by Albania. As of 2160, a small portion of the country broke free to become Bosnia again. Also, as of 2160, Serbia is the only independent nation in Europe. It is independent from the European Association due to poor relations with the West.
