The 2048 United States Presidential Election was the 66th quadrennial presidential election, held on Tuesday, November 6, 2048. The election was fought in the shadow of the global cold war with Turkey and Japan, as the United States was emerging from the Recession of 2045. The Progressive candidate, Evalyn Jacobi, acutely aware of strong non-interventionism sentiment, attacked Stanton with Garcia's foreign policy record, painting her as seeking to start a war with the Turks. The Alliance for Reform, under former Senator Max Goren, performed better than in any election before or since. Jacobi won a comfortable victory by building strong support among immigrants, urban progressives, and the traditionally Progressive Midwest.

Issues[]
Stanton crusaded against what she claimed the incompetence and waste in prior Progressive governments welfare programs. She stated that as president she would keep most of Ocasio-Cortez's government programs, but would make them more efficient. However, many Americans had largely benefited from these policies, and were unwilling to see them cut, hurting Stanton's chances with rural voters.
Stanton also accused Jacobi of trying to weaken the US when the Turks and Japanese were preparing for war, but this actually hurt Stanton, as many Americans blamed the Garcia administration, and Stanton in particular for increasing hostilities with Japan and Turkey.
